‘The Six Grandfathers/ Mount Rushmore Memorial/ or the Shrine of Democracy’
Once a sacred mountain for the native Sioux known as The Six Grandfathers.
After it was illegally seized by the new country’s patriots to became part of their states (in spite a treaty which recognized that land being part of Sioux tribe).
The mountain had already its divine features but for the conquers those were not representative. So they decided to build a memorial.
Since this is sometimes referred to as the ‘Shrine of Democracy’,
I wonder what those presidents would think of this act, would they favor it or would they bow in sign of misfortune in front of the mountain’s magical solemnity?
